Inventory
Inventory sync without unpleasant surprises
How to define inventory ownership, timing, and safeguards before connecting systems.
Define the source of truth
Inventory problems often begin when two systems are both allowed to make independent changes. Choose a source of truth and make the direction of each update explicit.
Plan for timing
No sync is instantaneous. Consider the delay between a supplier stock change and a storefront update, then decide whether low-stock buffers are appropriate for your catalog.
Review the exceptions
Bundles, manually adjusted variants, and products sold through more than one channel need clear rules. Test these cases before relying on the sync at scale.
